When I hear people wanting to become founders, entrepreneurs, consultants, solo devs, indie, and the likes of these, i often wonder why the incentives in the system are always money or ‘work for myself’ ?

The reality, whether you internalize it or not, is you always work for the customer. The business employed you for the same reason, and when you ‘work for yourself’ , you will do the same. Be ready for the ride. Its difficult. It will test you. It will drive you to insanity.

So, its not about work life balance, or money, or control over the work. Those may happen to you as a virtue of your personality, emotional state, life priorities.

It is always about being passionate about solving a problem that will impact other lives. If you want to decide what lives you make a difference to, become an entrepreneur. Insanity is where entrepreneurs thrive.
