How do you charge a ‘Parent’ to help with their ‘child’s future’ ?
I have been hosting interns, for Computer Science, withput any prejudice to things that the political parties would want us to. My only folly, I want to make a difference to the women in tech, as well as those who do not have industry connections.
For the past 5 years, nearly, as covid struck, I have been doing this pro-bono. No fees. Special call out to Freddi Gyara for the phenomenal support, and being open to hiring many of these trained interns.
Kaushik Gopalan helped connect me to CHIRANJOY CHATTOPADHYAY at Flame University This has enabled a whole new path. I am now a Visiting Faculty. And am touching more lives than ever.
This year, I intend on exploring a way to start a ‘long term’ internship programme. A 18-24 month programme for students in their early college years, to work on problems that will help the building blocks. Also, the main intention, to help them how to learn.
I am looking at ideas and help from my friends, colleagues, well wishers, parents of young children, and others are looking for help for their children.
Please help me understand ways in which I can make this activity feasible for the long term.
My ‘internships’ cover career counselling, mental health counselling, parenting counselling (for those who are willing to listen), finding the child’s preferred way of learning, and enabling them to build with their own hands so that they know they can do it.
I, often, seek support from my alumni networks of VMware Veritas Technologies LLC Symantec NETSCOUT Ozone API and friends from Modern Education Society’s Nowrosjee Wadia College Arts, Science, Pune 01 to help find placement for these interns.
Just reminding, all of this has been Pro Bono.
I am not a ‘target driven’ corporate. Nor do i want to grow into one. I do this because i love the fact that I am touching lives and collecting blessings.
Which brings me to my question, How do I charge money to a parent for helping with their child’s life ? Something that can make or break their confidence, personality, and the future. Help me understand, what would you pay for someone who helps work these things ? How much have you seen others charge ? Can one really, in their true honesty, really charge?
Any pointers will help.
