Career Options in the Tech (or any other) Industry

Was with a friend yesterday, and they mentioned that I should talk about this more, so here goes.

When mentees come and spend time with me, despite what they think they already know about themselves, I help them discover areas of passion. And it is so surprising that people come in with such limited set of career options that they think is available in the tech industry.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege to mentor students to find their space as programmers, but more importantly as project manager, programme manager, dev ops, sre, cloud operations, quality engineering, and many more. Some, like Technical Writing, localisation, content creation, marketing, etc, in the context of the tech industry, are so under sold.
