When building an organisation, it’s important to remember that no one is going be exactly like you, or what you expect them to be. They will be themselves, and have their own journey.
Learn to respect that. Look for the ‘overlap’ and build the rest. No one comes into the industry knowing everything. Most of the learning is on the job, in side gigs, or as side reading. So enable that. Connect with people based on your culture fit.
And, most importantly, when you send someone else to interview, ensure they are appropriately sensitised.
Training people to do the above, is a large part of all leadership roles, during the journey of any ‘direct reports’.
