I’m writing this, because my house help asked me to. Because she thinks, if this can be replicated, it can help a lot of people.

Nearly 5 years ago, I forced my house help to part with 1/6 of her salary. Forced, because I would not pay her cash for that amount. The amount would be deposited in her savings account, and she was to start a recurring deposit for that amount.

Initially it was difficult, but over time her family got used to the free cash flow.

Now, after 5 years, she has a savings that she could not have imagined she, or her family, would be able to save.

As we get into the ‘Reopening’ phases, it is a good time to educate and remind them about uncertainties in life, and the need to prepare for the future.

Hope this inspires some, and it makes a difference to lives, that make a difference to our lives.
