Lot of apps disable ‘Paste’ functionality on password and credit card number fields in the name of security.
So let’s look at the current state of affairs, as per those very companies:
- Storing credit card number on their platform is safe
- Typing on phone keyboard, a lot of people have custom keyboards either thr Gboard, the OS vendor specific ones or the custom ones that offer more stickers and emojis.
- Android apps with root permissions are all well mannered and none of them will install keyboard loggers or screen overlays.
- Using Password managers, like LastPass and 1Password, or plain simple notes, is not safe since they are focused on ensuring security for your passwords, card information, etc.
There is also another policy that they bring in, again, for security reasons. That of defining the characters that I can and should use in my password and my ability to reuse my password multiple times.
It just feels like they are reading my passwords. And if that is true, should I not use an absolute random password for each site? And how do they expect me to remember those? And if I keep it saved somewhere, how do I enter them on my small screen device without copy-paste ?
I wonder who defines ‘security’ for them. Are those people users?
